Hello Lichfield!
Yesterday (25th March) we opened the doors to our 23rd Heartwood Inn, The Quill & Scholar, nestled in the heart of the historic city of Lichfield.
The team at The Quill & Scholar will be led by General Manager Stuart and Head Chef Costel who bring their wealth of experience and expertise to the pub.
The pub has undergone an extensive refurbishment, now boasting numerous intimate corners and snug spots perfect for uninterrupted conversation and creating a warm and welcoming bar of 42 covers, a stunning dining room with 122 covers and a gorgeous heated terrace to the rear with 74 covers – this is a big one!
The pub has of course been infused with our signature quirky style with design touches including a wood-burning fire, cosy snugs, House of Hackney fabric-covered banquettes and Bert & May tiling. A large skylight to the rear of the pub has transformed this area into a beautiful light-filled garden room.
The cathedral city of Lichfield is known for its rich traditions of literature and academia so our wonderful new pub’s name and logo – The Quill & Scholar – is a nod to the city’s history as well as its famous residents, Samuel Johnson and Erasmus Darwin.
We are really proud of The Quill & Scholar, with so much history and an array of crowd-drawing annual events, Lichfield is brimming with life and we cannot wait to get stuck in. Welcome to the family!
